Happy birthday to my mother!

The last few days have been busy. All of Saturday was occupied with a Scouting event — in my last days as a Boy Scout, I was able to join the Order of the Arrow, BSA's honor camping society. Although I was eligible to advance to the higher of its two common levels after less than a year, I'd never gotten around to it until Saturday, nearly five years later. I was able to pass it, although the requirements weren't as significant as I'd expected. Unfortunately, most of the day was wasted: they had us doing things only for a short period of the day, and we just sat around with nothing to do for several hours in the morning and several hours in the afternoon.
Today, I was a bit more active, going back to the vicinity of the Scout camp where the event was held. With nothing much to do after mowing was completed, I drove to Springfield and points south to get photos, and the number of sites I visited was more than I expected. Rain looked to be a major problem, but I'm thankful that it went around or otherwise missed where I was to a significant extent. Part of the trip included visiting an Adena mound in Glen Helen, a park near Yellow Springs; it was easy to see why Glen Helen has been recognised nationally as a significant natural area.

What a surprise — I just got a Nigerian letter via Facebook. The emailer said that it was someone in my family; funny, he misspelled the name...
